Cuvée began in 1998 as an experiment in craft. Mike and his team started building their own direct trade network in hopes of higher quality and more consistent access to their favorite coffee. In 2001, Mike came up with the idea to introduce nitrogen into cold-brew coffee, resulting in a drink that has texture, a creamy mouthfeel and sweetness. Curiosity further led them to can their Nitro Cold Brew using the powers of a nitro widget.

Their name, derived from “xocolatl,” honors the Aztec and Mayan peoples, the first to discover the cacao bean. They pay tribute to chocolate’s origin by sourcing, hand-sorting and custom-roasting quality cacao beans from small farms.
