Supplier Spotlight
Bloomia
King George, VA
Certifier: Fair Food Program
A relationship 13 years strong and counting.
In 2020, Bloomia became the first flower farm in the U.S. to be certified by the Fair Food Program. That means sales of Bloomia tulips directly benefit the farmworkers who plant and harvest them. With wages well above the Virginia minimum, a biweekly performance premium and 24/7 support line designed to give farmworkers a platform for voicing working conditions, these blooms don’t just look beautiful — they do something beautiful too.
Sun Valley Group
Arcata, CA
Certifier: Rainforest Alliance
One of our first large-scale suppliers of tulips.
Nestled in the hills and fog of northern California, Sun Valley Group’s ideal tulip-growing conditions translate into supporting environmental stewardship, too. As the first flower farm in the U.S. to be certified by the Rainforest Alliance — their sustainability initiatives include water conservation through drip-tape irrigation and steam sterilization to sanitize and reuse soil. All of these practices produce their quality flowers with vibrant colors and long-lasting petals.
